Funding and Fundraising.
Funding
The Grampian Autistic Society requires funding in order to provide the services required for our clients.
The main source of funding comes from the local authorities (Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City Council) in payment for our services. At this time there are two ways in which the funding is provided. Aberdeenshire operate a system of "Block Funding" which is a funding package that is worked out to cover the cost of the service provided by the society. Aberdeen City Council uses a "pay per client" system. Under this scheme a rate is set for each client who is referred to the society. The funding is subject to negotiation with the local authority usually on an annual basis.
Fundraising
There are a number of fundraising outlets that are open to applications from charities seeking funding for specific projects. In Aberdeen an example of this would be the Students’ Charity fund. When we are aware of such sources we will make applications for funding if appropriate. Information about such funding bodies is always welcome.
A further important source of funding is donations received from companies and individuals. This comes in different ways and for a number of reasons. It is always good to know that the work that we do is valued by people who want to express their support in this way. So the next time you want to abseil from a tall building or run a marathon you could help the society by raising funds through being sponsored! Without funding the society would be unable to maintain its services to the people who benefit most: those in the North East of Scotland who have Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
